Salmon Field trips

Salmon Fieldtrips are a fun and educational way for children to form a connection with the natural environment through not only learning about but experiencing the Fall Chinook Salmon Run firsthand from the cockpit of their very own kayak.

Fieldtrips are available tor groups of 15-28 students. Life-jackets, kayaks, basic kayak instruction, and guides are provided.


What Children Experience on a Typical Salmon Field Trip

  • Educational presentation about the salmon

  • Tour of the Feather River Fish Hatchery

  • Paddling a giant paddle board as a team, across the Feather River and back

  • Tour of the Oroville Nature Center

  • Basic kayak instruction

  • Paddling amongst the spawning salmon as they leap and swim toward the base of the fish ladder.
